Public Skating

Public skate

The Scott Seamans Sports Rink will be offering a Public Skating schedule; due to the extremely cold temperatures, Public Skating will begin on Saturday, February 13.

  • There will be 2 – 1hr slots offered each day as follows for the month of February, facility will remain locked before and after Public Skating:
    o   Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm and 3:45 pm – 4:45 pm
    o Sat 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm
    o  Sun                                                    9:00 am – 10:00 am        and        10:30 am – 11:30 am
  • For Saturday and Sunday Public Skating times, at the end of the first time offered, ALL visitors must vacate the ice surface so maintenance can be done, gates will be locked to the ice surface and will not reopen until the next time slot. If the ice surface is not vacated at the end of the first time, the second time may be shortened due to paid bookings, commencing after the second Public Skating time.
  • Rules for Public Skating will be:
    o  Helmets are required;
    o Absolutely NO sticks, pucks, practices, shiny, pickup or tag will be permitted or tolerated;
    o NO washrooms or changerooms available;
    o 2 Meter physical distancing is required at ALL TIMES, if not from the same household;
    o The facility will be “USE AT YOUR OWN RISK”, it will not be sanitized between times, only when there is a paid Booking will the facility be sanitized;
    o If you are sick, stay home;
    o Wash hands frequently, before and after visiting the facility; and
    o  Maximum of 50 skaters for public skating per session.  If the maximum has been reached, please come back at another time.
  • The Outdoor Rink will be closed if -20C or colder, this is normal operating procedures for this facility. Notifications will be posted online and the facility will be closed until the weather improves.
  • Facility closures may occur based on Provincial requirements/restriction and/or as per the direction of the Minister of Health and the Province of Alberta.
