The past couple of days have provided some lovely spring rain, as well as some run-off from the snowpack. More rain is expected during the next week, according to the long-range forecast. Water flow and volume in the Sheep River have increased as a result, making the river a potentially unsafe place right now. Fast-moving water can undercut riverbanks in some areas, and not be seen. This can create hazards of slippery rocks and insecure footing. Right now the river is unpredictable in its levels, and the amount of debris within the fast-moving water. The Sheep River is very cold at this time of the year, increasing the risk of hypothermia to anyone ending up in the water. The Town asks everyone to avoid the river and the riverbanks as well.
