Weed Control

Weeds

Prohibited Noxious
Weeds in this category pose a serious threat and as such must be eradicated. Generally, these weeds possess characteristics of rapid spread, and superior competition. These weeds are either not found presently or found in small numbers in Alberta and are designated Prohibited Noxious to prevent their establishment.

 Noxious
Weeds designated as Noxious have the ability to spread rapidly and cause severe crop losses and economic hardship for all property owners. These weeds must be controlled to prevent further establishment and spreading.

To assist in the identification and removal of Prohibited Noxious and Noxious weeds on private property, a professional contractor has been hired by the Town. This contractor will inspect properties, determine weed types and quantities, notice non-compliant properties and follow up to ensure compliance and control. This program will run throughout the summer to ensure weeds can be removed before they go to seed.

A weed notice from the inspector will explain the type and plant identified on the property, methods of control and the timeline for the property owner to complete this control. If the plants are not controlled within this timeline, the Town will hire a professional contractor to control the weeds and the property will be billed.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us control and eradicate Prohibited Noxious and Noxious weeds.
