Boards & Committees

Following is a listing of the Town of Black Diamond's Committees of Council.  If you  would like to learn more about these committees or if you are interested in volunteering as a board/committee member for any of these committees, please contact the Town of Black Diamond or directly contact the person listed on that committee's page.  Committee vacancies will be posted on the Employment Opportunities and Committee Vacancies page as they become available.  Please fill out a Committee/Board Application Form and submit it to the contact person associated with the advertised position.

  1. Economic Development Committee

    EDC is a volunteer based advisory committee that encourages and facilitates business development and tourism in the Town of Black Diamond. EDC consists of members of Council, members at large and business owners.

  2. Family & Community Support Services

    FCSS is a Town department that funds and offers local preventative social service programs, with the goal being to build a strong, cohesive and supportive community. FCSS works to ensure that necessary programs and services are available to children and families, seniors and vulnerable individuals as well as the community as a whole. FCSS meets monthly to discuss needs in the community and make program/funding decisions.

  3. Foothills Cemetery Board

    Responsible for the operation and future planning of the Foothills Cemetery located just west of Black Diamond.

  4. Intermunicipal SDAB

    The Intermunicipal Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (ISDAB) hears appeals from people who have been affected by development authority or subdivision authority decisions.

  5. Municipal Planning Commission

    This commission meets to determine if new development applications meet the requirements of the Town of Black Diamond's Land Use Bylaw.

  6. Parks & Recreation

    Responsible for the planning, creation and maintenance of local parks and pathways systems. They also host a sub-committee, which is responsible for the Diamond Valley Community Garden.

  7. Sheep River Library Board

    Sets policies for the operation of the Library, planning for the future of our Library.

  8. Sustainable Black Diamond Advisory Committee

    Makes plans for the sustainable future of the Town of Black Diamond and forwards this information to Council to assist in sustainable planning and decision-making.
